Up! Up! Up!

SS not in the hizzay.

Because of the snow in NY, Stephen Sondheim wasn’t able to fly out for the show tonight. He sat on the plane for hours before they canceled the flight. Poor man! I hope they had peanuts.

The show went on with Christine Ebersole (love) and Brian Stokes Mitchell (love) performing Sondheim’s songs. They were originally only going to sing three songs each in the program, but obviously they had to plan for an extra 45 minutes in their dressing rooms three hours before show time. They’re mad cool for not canceling all together. Mad cool.

Other good news is that we got to hear Sondheim on the phone. What a wonderful phone voice he has. He said “Jamie, don’t worry. I promise to come see you as soon as this blizzard passes. I’ve written a new song for you, and it’s more beautiful than ‘Sunday’. It’s going to be in a new show that I’ve also written for you. You’re like a daughter to me.”

I was happy about that lie, but the good, real news is that he is coming at another time, and my tickets are still good for the rescheduled date!

The End.
